Using Fictional Stories as a Pathway to Science Content

I just finished reading this motivating article featured in Education Week about the power of story across content areas. It reminded me of a conversation that I had with a friend of mine who is a history teacher. While I can understand the need and importance of non-fiction (a non-negotiable in my opinion), I shared that I wished that there were more stories incorporated into these subjects. Stories, for me, contain the heart of the events. That emotional triggering is one that surpasses the four walls of the classroom, the academic year, or any test (although they help there as well).
